RIDE's equine mission is to provide rescue and rehabilitation for horses in emergency need while encouraging safe and responsible horse ownership. RIDE's human mission is to provide recreational and therapeutic opportunities for individuals that involve horses, particularly those horses given a second chance in life.
Description:
Rescue/Recreation Involving Deserving Equine is a new non-profit addition to the SE Minnesota Equestrian Community. Promoting the rescue and rehabilitation of horses in need and the advancement of animal assisted therapeutic programming for humans, RIDE's work is entirely volunteer driven, and donor funded. Our network of foster homes, care providers, therapists and other volunteers help humans and horses in a variety of situation with many levels of need. RIDE works with area equine veterinarians and other professional to tailor services to each animal. Training of staff and development for our animal assisted programs is in process. RIDE is networking with other agencies to develop cutting edge programs that will fill in the service gaps left by other equine programs. Volunteers with a passion for animals and people are encouraged to join in this development process.
History:
RIDE is the result of many horse rescue advocates uniting to increase effectiveness in SE Minnesota. Since it's formal inception in 2008, RIDE has voiced a commitment to offering cutting edge animal assisted therapeutic programs, rehabilitation services to horses in need and education for their owners. Four growth stages have been identified, with progress well underway in stages 1-3! Recruitment is underway for Board members and volunteers interested in animal assisted programs and rescue.
