To provide aid to elderly and/or handicapped people, by a corps of non-professional volunteers,to better enable care recipients to remain living in their home of choice. Faith In Action is a non-profit organization. We network with many churches and other civic and social agencies within the County to maximize communications.

Description:

Volunteers select any of the following services they wish to deliver for persons in need: TRANSPORTATION- For medical appointments; SHOPPING- Groceries or picking up prescription medications; HOME CHORES - Vacuuming, dusting, laundry, clean windows, home delivered meals; MINOR HOME REPAIRS - Repair broken windows, install weather stripping, small paint jobs, construct and install wheelchair ramps; FRIENDLY VISITOR - Visit with shut-ins to prevent lonelyness and depression; RESPITE CARE- Relieve other caregivers; HEALTH INSURANCE COUNSELOR - Help people understand Medicare and Medicare supplemental insurance and help assure proper payments are made.

History:
First established and started functioning in January 2002. Our office is located in Plainview and our volunteers are recruited from all of Wabasha County. Volunteers provide defined services for residents of Wabasha County. We are an interfaith organization, working with many churches within Wabasha County. During 2003 our 55 active volunteers provided services for 96 clients. Our volunteers provided services 784 times and spent 1,328 hours delivering those services.
