AseraCare Hospice provides physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical care for people in the last phases of an incurable disease, with an emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms. The program is reflective of a spirit and idea of caring that emphasizes comfort and dignity for the dying.
Description:
Utilizing an interdisciplinary team approach of physicians, nurses, social workers, homemakers, home health aides, volunteers, spiritual counselors, bereavement counselors and others, we provide palliative (comfort) care. We have the need for direct and indirect volunteers. Direct care is visits with the patients and their families. In-direct is office tasks. Your group can volunteer your gifts and talents such as cards, art work, music and quilts. There are so many ways to volunteer bereavement phone calls, pet therapy, vigil volunteers and reflection program.
History:
Hospice affirms life. The term "hospice" comes from the same linguistic root as "hospital" and "hospitality". Hospice offers a positive response to dying; it is hard medicine with a human face. We believe nobody should die alone.
