Voices for Children is a statewide, independent, non-profit child advocacy organization working to define and promote public policy in the best interest of children in Nebraska.
Description:
Voices for Children conducts research on the status of children in Nebraska and supports legislation in areas ranging from child care, abuse and neglect, health care, out-of-home care, education, juvenile justice and poverty. Our primary goal is to speak out for children so that they have a voice in the classroom, the courtroom and the media. We continue to strive to educate the public, lawmakers, and public officials on issues which impact children. Voices for Children in Nebraska publishes the Kids Count in Nebraska Report, now in its 15th year. Kids Count reports statistics on the well-being of Nebraska's children on a county-by-county basis. The report is available at www.voicesforchildren.com/kidscount. Volunteers are always needed to assist with special projects and events.
History:
Founded in 1987 by Executive Director Kathy Bigsby Moore, Voices for Children in Nebraska, is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2008. Over the course of these years, Voices for Children has had a significant impact in shaping the laws that affect Nebraska's children. We're "shaping our tomorrow by serving our children today."
