Youth Care, Inc. provides group homes and a training program for developmentally disabled youth and young adults. We work to teach these young people independent living skills to empower them to become productive, contributing members of the community. Our kids have mild to moderate retardation levels. They may have experienced some type of abuse or neglect, and they often have mental illnesses. Our goal is to help them deal with their disability and move beyond their life experiences to heal, grow, and learn.
History:
Youth Care, Inc. is a private, nonprofit agency that has been in existence since 1980. We serve both boys and girls and young men and women, and we are located in North Central Omaha. We started with one group home and now have three homes for our youth. Each home houses from six to seven young people. We also have two supported independent living apartments for our young adults, three young women and three young men.
