The YWCA's purpose is to draw together members who strive to create opportunities for women's growth, leadership and power in order to attain a common vision: Peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people. Our one imperative is to thrust our collective power toward the elimination of racism wherever it exists and by any means nescessary.
History:
Mrs. George Tildon on the formation of the Omaha YWCA. "Early in 1893, women interested in the welfare of young women coming to Omaha to seek occupations, many without friends and little means, decided that an organization in the interest of young women was imperative.Over a century later, the YWCA continues to serve women and girls in our community.
