Our purpose is to create opportunities for women’s growth, leadership and power in order to attain a common vision:
Peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people.

Our one imperative is to thrust our collective power toward the elimination of racism wherever it exists and by any means necessary.

Description:
YWCA Omaha provides life giving, and often life saving, services to nearly 30,000 people in the greater Omaha community each year. These vital services include:
• 24-hour domestic violence/sexual assault crisis hotline
• Advocacy—safety planning, emergency needs, Protection Orders
• Counseling for sexual or domestic abuse survivors of all ages, including children and teens, and children exposed to domestic violence
• Non-violence counseling for abusive teens or adults
• Prevention programs for all ages
• A new diversity program is entitled Unlearning Racism. This program works to create
create a community culture that fosters acceptance of differences, reduces fear-driven
racism and fosters inclusive and culturally-sensitive organizations.
• PRISM, an inclusiveness and anti-bullying program
• Career services, including career counseling, training, professional clothing closet and computer lab

History:
The YWCA Omaha was established in 1893 and has provided an array of services including a dormatory, children's camp, and non traditional career training for women. The YWCA expanded its services to include domestic violence and sexual assault in 1974.
