At Take Flight Farms, our mission is to develop capable and resilient individuals by partnering with horses in therapeutic and learning programs. Our vision is to be a recognized center of excellence in equine-assisted activities, providing our unique services to all who need them by collaborating with high-quality partners and being a financially sound and innovative organization.
Description:
At Take Flight Farms, we incorporate horses into learning programs for troubled youth. Closely working with horses, whether on the ground or through riding, has been proven to teach individuals the value of honest and responsible relationships with animals as well as other people. We create numerous opportunities to develop team-building skills, anger management, self confidence, respect for others, and accepting responsibility. In turn, we promote a circle of service that empowers these youth by involving our horses and members of the community.
History:
Take Flight Farms began as simply an idea of founder and board chairman Lisa Roskens. She wanted to create a way for horses to help people help themselves. The "farm project" as it first was called became an incorporated 501c3 nonprofit organization in 2001.
