Our mission is to ensure palliative and compassionate care to the terminally ill patient so as to enhance natural death with dignity. The physical, spiritual, psychological, and social needs of patients and their families are addressed with special emphasis on family bereavement and grief support.
Description:
Hospice is a special kind of care designed to provide support for people in the final phase of terminal illness. Hospice care can be implemented in a variety of settings such as patient homes, hospitals, or long-term care facilities. Hospice care seeks to enable patients to carry on an alert, pain-free life and to manage other symptoms so their last days may be spent with dignity.
History:
In 1987, Community Hospice of Iowa was started by two nurses from the Council Bluffs area. They built up the business and expanded to Omaha, NE in 1991. In 1994, the name was changed to Hospice Preferred Choice and then to AseraCare Hospice in 2004. There are now offices in Kearney, Norfolk, York, Lincoln and Grand Island, NE.
