AseraCare Hospice of Omaha is looking for one or more individuals who would enjoy baking and decorating small individual-size cakes for terminally ill patients utilizing our hospice services. This volunteer would bake, decorate and deliver the birthday cake within the week of the patients' birthday. This is a perfect volunteer opportunity for those who would like to do something for the terminally ill patients but cannot physically or emotionally commit to a regular weekly visit as a long-term companion. All volunteers who have any patient contact must pass a series of background checks, pass local health regulations including a one-time drug screen and tuberculosis test). In addition, Birthday Cake volunteers would complete a minimum of 3-5 hours of training on the history and philosophy of hospice and what to expect in their visits.
