We are seeking 3 full-time AmeriCorps member positions available in Omaha, Nebraska.This is a one year commitment of 1700 hours of service starting in fall of 2008.

Primary responsibilities will be to:
• Conduct lead poisoning prevention outreach and education in the Omaha area, particularly to diverse, underserved and underrepresented communities
• Work with EPA program and other environmental advocates to address childhood lead poisoning in homes
• Recruit volunteers and coordinate volunteer service activities
• Participate in health fairs, community events and other outreach activities
• Data collection/entry/ maintenance to monitor program progress
• Survey design and completion to measure program outcomes
• Participate and successfully complete schedule staff training sessions
• Attend weekly and monthly staff and community meetings

Qualifications:
High School Degree or GED, or must be completed during term of service, must be a U.S. citizen; must be at least 17 years of age. The successful candidate must have a strong interest in environmental issues and the community. We are seeking highly motivated individuals with strong interpersonal skills; public speaking ability, a willingness to learn and the ability to self manage. Ability to use computer programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database experience helpful. Bilingual language skills in English and Spanish preferred. Must have valid driver’s license, own vehicle and insurance.
