Position title: Volunteer Board Members for Thriving, Diverse Childcare Center
Description: Welcome to The Children's Center, a nine-year young, Washington non-profit corporation, located in northeast Seattle. We offer excellent childcare services to nearly 60 working families. The wait list for our services is over 12 months. Preference is given to siblings of existing attendees, families living in the Burke Gilman community, children of University of Washington faculty, staff and students, and City of Seattle- and DSHS-sponsored families. Our staff of 18 from Bulgaria, China, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, the United States, and Vietnam, and our children come from an equally diverse set of countries. We're on the path toward NAEYC accreditation, the "gold standard" of early childcare certification. We provide morning and afternoon snacks daily for all of our children.
We're looking to add two additional volunteer Board members that will provide strategic direction, fundraising, and fiscal responsibility to our Center.
Type of board position: Board of Directors
The process for selecting or nominating members: We review qualifications by considering resumes, prior non-profit experience (not required), qualities that will bring value to the organization and we hold an in-person, informal interview.
