Trustees shall have the experience to enhance Board's operation, adequate time to invest in board and committee work, interest in service to the elderly, and sympathy with Methodist values. Located in East Providence, Rhode Island, United Methodist Elder Care is an affordable continuing care community serving 206 very-low to low- moderate income seniors. We offer independent-living subsidized apartments, affordable assisted living apartments, full service dining, nursing home care, long term care, assistance with activities of daily living, rehabilitative services, an on-site chaplain, and a warm, inviting community life. We welcome residents of all religious, ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds and support productive and joyful aging. United Methodist Elder Care is a private, not-for-profit, charity, with a 501(c)(3) designation in-force, and registered as an independent charity with the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation. We are an equal opportunity provider of housing and care without regard to race, national origin, creed, or gender. Our historical connection to the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church provides the impetus for our missional perspective and commitment to human dignity and quality care. It has been nearly 40 years since the doors of the “Methodist Retirement Center” opened to elder residents. Since that time, the mission has evolved to a continuum of senior living options; independent retirement living, supportive housing, affordable assisted living, and skilled nursing home care; in service to 206 elders-in-need. Our mission remains as it was at the beginning, “We are a community where older persons live in comfort, dignity, and with purpose.” The United Methodist Elder Care Campus is designed to provide each resident with the living environment and level of care that best suits the individual’s needs. This continuum offers flexibility and stability allowing residents to maximize opportunities for independence with a sense of security and confidence. Residents modify their living arrangement without the dislocation of an out-of-community move. They use just those supportive services that enhance lifestyle. This ‘transitional ease’ is an invaluable assist to adaptive aging. We offer a full spectrum of compassionate and excellent services for elders who cannot afford a market-rate catered retirement living community.
