The St. Barnabas mission is to reach out to those in need. St. Barnabas lives out its mission through individual and institutional services which help the health, education, and social needs of others.
We trust and respect all those who participate in the St. Barnabas mission. This includes employees, volunteers, medical staff, members of boards, and others who identify and support our work. Because all of God’s people share a common humanity, an interdependence with one another; we embrace those in need with prayerful concern, strongly advocating public policies which further justice and peace. We view our organization as a means to effect fundamental change in social policy and to demonstrate leadership in the expression of Christian values.
We accept a leadership role in designing quality health care and financing systems that assure access to needed health care services for all persons. Among the health care needs given emphasis by our system are primary care services, long-term care services for the economically poor with chronic diseases or disabilities, residential services for the elderly, and home care and companion services for the homebound.
Just as the love of Christ urged Brother Gouverneur P. Hance to devote himself to the service of the poor, it impels us to continue service to those in need and to take appropriate actions to assure the continuing viability of our mission through a strong commitment to our programs and associated services.
