The mission of the Volunteer & Community Services Program at UPMC Cancer Centers and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI) is twofold: first, to help to improve the quality of life for patients and their families during their stay at UPCI; and second, to aid in the fulfillment of UPMC Cancer Centers' and UPCI's mission by supplementing and enhancing the ongoing efforts of scientists, medical staff, and employees. Volunteers are placed wherever there is a need within UPMC Cancer Centers and UPCI while providing volunteers with the opportunity to experience educational, emotional, and personal growth.
