The Mattress Factory is a research and development lab for artists. As a museum of contemporary art, it commissions new site-specific works, presents them to a wide audience, and maintains selected installations in a growing - and distinctive - permanent collection. The Mattress Factory's responsive, artist-oriented administration encourages spontaneity, inventiveness, and on-site decision making by the artist.

Description:
Volunteers at the museum assist with visitors' services, educational programming and clerical projects. We seek a diverse group of enthusiastic individuals to engage with our guests as gallery attendants and activity table facilitators.

History:
The Mattress Factory was incorporated as a non-profit educational/cultural organization in 1977. It began as a multi-media community arts organization and has become the premier institution for the creation and exhibition of contemporary site-specific installation art.
