The vision of the Wisconsin and Upper Michigan division is to be a Salvation Army that is vital to the communities in which we serve. This will happen through prayer, evangelism, discipleship, worship, stewardship, fellowship, outreach services and leadership development for the purpose of bringing glory to Jesus Christ.
Description:
The Salvation Army in Portage County has a heart for people. We want to provide basic needs and other necessities to individuals and families. We do this in a number of ways; food assistance through our pantries, homeless sheltering with a 35 bed facility, youth programs that develop leadership and many other opportunities for Portage County residents in need.
History:
The Salvation Army has provided emergency shelter in Portage County since the mid-eighties. While we identify a growing need we answer with a growing response by making ourselves available by reaching out and helping in other areas.
