Volunteer Event Management - Backup Systems
| An event management solution designed specifically for volunteer events |
 |
|
Volunteer Solutions systems are designed from the start to always
provide redundant storage for all data. The information below provides
a summary of the systems and processes in place to ensure the safe
storage of all customer data. Some key features of our backup systems
include:
- Oracle 10g database running in archivelog mode with multiple
control files each written to independently mirrored hard
drives. Redo logs, archive logs, etc. are also written directly to
mirrored drives.
- On a nightly basis, an incremental backup of all web server
and oracle logs, control files, init files, etc. is performed. A
full backup is performed once per week and includes full tablespace
backups. Additionally, on a nightly basis, we do a consistent export
of our oracle user accounts which are then written to tape.
- We keep 4 weeks of tapes - our week starts on Friday when
the oldest weeks tapes are blanked. Our tapes are sent offsite to
Iron Mountain every
Friday afternoon after their rotation.
- There is a procedure in place that if a restore is required
that the backups will be in good working condition. Our hosting
company verifies backup data integrity and regularly verifies that
the data restoration process works.
- In case of major disaster, we are ready to reconfigure our
development servers to serve as an interim production
environment. Our tapes are shipped offsite weekly and would thus be
used to reload data into the interim servers. These servers would
remain online until new hardware could be configured in a new
hosting facility.
