To provide quality and caring services to senior men and women in a Christian Community Entering our Second Century of Service.
Description:
The Homes provides quality and caring services to 1,400 senior men and women in New Jersey. We have a tradition of excellence. In continuous operation since 1907, our founders made the promise: No resident will ever be asked to leave due to the inability to pay the total cost of care. That promise has been kept. The Homes' ten communities extend from the northern Delaware River watershed to the Atlantic coast. More than 1,400 senior men and women live in these nurturing and supportive communities. Five communities provide services ranging from independent living, residential living, assisted living to skilled nursing care. Five are affordable housing communities developed through the partnerships of the Homes, United Methodist churches, and congregations of other denominations. At The Homes' full service communities, you can expect: Residential living with optional meals, laundry, housekeeping and transportation services; physician visits by appointment; and speech, occupational and physical therapy. Assisted living provides help managing dressing, bathing, medication administration as needed and other daily living tasks. A licensed nurse is present twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Health care and rehabilitation consists of a spectrum of professional medical services under the supervision of a licensed director of nursing. Residents transfer, as appropriate, from one level of care to another.
History:
Entering Our Second Century Of Service In 1907, a committee of women appointed by the New Brunswick District Preachers corresponded with pastors and persons of the Methodist Episcopal Churches of Monmouth County about the need and importance of establishing a home for the aged. Soon, a single home on 63 Clark Avenue, Ocean Grove, was purchased, and it became the first home in our system. Collingswood Manor, begun independently in 1891, merged with The United Methodist Homes in 1971. Today, our annual operating budget is over $47,000,000, and we have more than 800 employees. The United Methodist Homes of New Jersey is widely recognized for high quality care and service to seniors. The Homes provides a national model for other church-related elder care organizations in the United States. Residents benefit from a range of comprehensive services including independent living, residential living, multi-level assisted living, and skilled nursing. The residents in each community enjoy a variety of spiritual, social, cultural and other programs that enrich their daily lives.
