History:
Morristown Neighborhood House was founded in 1898 by concerned citizens. Our founders believed that the community would benefit from an agency that would assist Italian immigrants in becoming acclimated to a new culture. In 1901, a building located on Flagler Street was donated to house the program. Neighborhood House has remained in the same location for more than 100 years. It was at Neighborhood House (also known as the “Nabe”) that several local agencies got their start, including the Urban League of Morris County, the Visiting Nurse Association, the Colonial Little Symphony, and the New Jersey Chorale Society. Morris County United Way, originally named The Community Chest, also had its start at Neighborhood House.
