Using pets, cooking, archery and more we work with Union County youth to develop their life skills. Additionally we run outreach programs in the area of science and tree care for school-age children.
Description:
Through the vehicle of 4-H Clubs we work with Union County Youth to develop life skills. Such as communication skills, leadership skills, and decision making skills. 4-H clubs can be organized around any topics. Current Union County 4-H Clubs are organized around cooking, pet care, archery, gardening and more. Children ages 1st grade to 12th grade are welcome to join the clubs. Clubs are run by adult volunteers who are trained by the 4-H Program. In addition to our volunteer run club program we also recruit volunteers to teach children about trees. Called Master Tree Stewards these volunteers visit 4th grade classrooms throughout Union County.
History:
The organization is part of Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Union County. An outreach program of Rutgers University and the County of Union. 4-H itself has been existence for over 100 years and operates in almost every county in the United States.
