HopeLine, Inc. is a family of confidential services offering caring, non-judgmental listening and resource information in an effort to improve the overall well being of people in the community.

Description:
HopeLine is essentially a vast group of volunteers who work to support the community in a variety of fashions. These include serving on our Board of Directors, answering calls on our Crisis and Teen Talk Lines, training, fund raising, public speaking, and office assistance. Many volunteers wear more than one hat.

History:
HopeLine, Inc began in 1970. We were founded by a group of concerned local citizens who formed a committee to study needs in Wake County. Their research determined that Wake County needed a telephone line for people in crisis to call, confidentially and anonymously. In August 1970, articles of incorporation for HopeLine were established, as well as a 15 member Board-of-Directors, by-laws and committees. Calls were first taken on September 1, 1970.
