The South Santee Senior & Community Center is a multi-service organization whose purpose is to provide services and information to elderly residents and their families to enable elderly adults to maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life and to provide a structured and quality after school program.

Description:
St James South Santee Community Center provides daily services for senior clients. Services include congregate and home delivered meals; transportation and Homecare/homebound support; health education; and social skill building. Services are provided to seniors through out the Awendaw, McClellanville and Mt Pleasant areas. Services are available Monday - Friday excluding holidays. There are three sites: 1) South Santee Seniors & Community Center at 710 South Santee Rd., McClellanville; 2)Awendaw Seniors at 1206 Porcher School Rd., Awendaw; and 3) Friendship Seniors (Friendship AME Church) at 204 Royall Ave., Mt Pleasant.
The South Santee facility also provides an excellent after school program during the regular school session of Charleston County Public Schools.

History:
South Santee Senior & Community Center has been the hub of very essential services for the senior population residing in the area of East Cooper/Hwy 17 north thoroughfare of Charleston County for over 27 years. The center strives to provide services that will allow seniors to continue to live independently in their own homes. We take great pride in the services that are provided. The center has created a volunteer network that has gain National recognition and has received numerous awards and commendations for service delivery. Each senior is given an individualized service plan that caters to their personal needs.
