Sanctuary provides a "safe home with dignity" for homeless and displaced individuals and families.
Description:
In existence for over 14 years, we provide long term housing for people who need to learn or relearn individual and fiscal responsibility. This goal is accomplished by providing the basics (food, shelter, laundry and telephone use) so that the individual can then concentrate on obtaining gainful employment and/or education.
History:
Founded in 1992 by Ann Terrell, we began in Austin, Texas. From the beginning, our goal has been to provide a 'hand-up' rather than a 'hand-out'. Relocating to San Antonio in 2002, we continued operations as planned until the passing of our founder in January of 2006. Now led by her son, Mark D. Pleasant, we seek to expand our services statewide and beyond.
