MADD helps save lives through education, awareness, and the passage and enforcement of anti-drunk driving and underage drinking laws. We also provide support for the survivors, family members, and friends coping with the devastation caused by a drunk driving crash. The mission of MADD is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking.
Description:
Over the past 20 years, MADD has become a leader in our community’s fight against drunk driving and underage drinking. This leadership has developed through actively working to heighten awareness of the crime, setting and attaining public policy goals, assisting victims and their families, and empowering youth to affect change in their community. MADD is committed to serving victims and families who suffer from alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes, in addition to our mission to stop drunk driving and prevent underage drinking. MADD – South Texas offers free victims services, educational youth and adult programs, and public awareness efforts throughout 47 South Texas counties.
History:
MADD -- South Texas Affiliate was established in 1986. The organization is governed by a national board of directors and national office staff in Irving, Texas and Washington, D.C. who work collectively to provide local affiliates and state charters with training, resources, and information so they can provide MADD services and programs across the nation.
