Description:
Child Abuse Prevention Services, DBA Healthy Families San Antonio, provides parenting education, community resource management, and workshops for parents and professionals who support families. Parent Educators, certified in the internationally known "Born To Learn" curriculum, visit one-on-one with young (15-25)parents in their homes to help them become their child's first and best teacher. The curriculum covers the first three years of a child's life including neuroscience, child development and disciplinary techniques. Community Resource Specialists help these young parents navigate the myriad of services available. Services include assistance with paternity issues, child support, employment, education, housing, etc. Education Specialists help family support professionals update their skills and remain informed in the latest technology available to report abuse and neglect as well as in the latest research and development affecting children ages 0-3.
History:
Child Abuse Prevention Services has been serving the San Antonio community since 1971. In 1992, Child Abuse Prevention Services board of directors voted to do business as Healthy Families San Antonio. The mission continues to be preventing child abuse and neglect through community education and services that strengthen families and promote healthy child development.
