To inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, and service that they may become happy and resourceful citizens. Girls Scouts build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

Description:
Leadership development is the core of the Girl Scout Movement and is the thread that is woven through everything a girl experiences in Girl Scouting. Based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law leadership and code of ethics, the girls understand their values and use the knowledge and skills to explore the word. Programs are delivered to the girls by trained adult volunteers in a troop setting. We employ programs with other collaboratives and organizations dedicated to youth development.

Girl Scouts of the San Antonio Area is a dynamic and contemporary organization which prepares girls to seek and meet the challenges of our ever changing society. Through our program, girls ages 5-17, learn to have fun, gain self-esteem, and contribute to their communities. A variety of opportunities exist for those interested in volunteering their time and energy in support of our Girl Scout programs. The volunteer structure is innovative and emphasizes adult education and training.

History:

exciting and challenging...I would do it again.
As a member of Americorp and volunteering with local community centers I found that I have a passion and vision for the inner-city youth and rural youth development. I want to explore more cultural initiatives that include elders.
