The goal of S.L.E.W. Wellness Center is to meet the emotional and physical needs of uninsured, underinsured, and low income women diagnosed with cancer.
Description:
Thought a one of a kind non-profit Wellness Center programs are offered in the areas of emotional counseling, nutritional counseling, range of motion, pain management, wig and prosthetic fitting, massage therapy, nursing services, paraffin wax treatment, and transportation. S.L.E.W. understands that services should not end with direct treatment, for after-care is a crucial part of putting a patient on a fast road to recovery.S.L.E.W. operates in spa like environment, thus making it less threatening for a patient to participate, causing less anxiety and greater comfort level.
History:
This center's one stop concept was founded in 2003 by its' executive director after undergoing a bout with cancer herself. She discovered the inadequacies regarding fragmented services throughout the city for this weak and fragile group.
