Our mission is to deliver our commitment and dedication to the community and surrounding areas.
*Keeping Children At Heart*
Provides Emergency Shelter to the abused, neglected, abandoned, and homeless children in our community, we provide independent life skills to adolescents, parenting skills to detect, intervene, and prevent child abuse and crime, with out receiving any monetary incentive from state and federal agencies; Our funds will generate by Fundraisers and donations from great individuals who help us to help the unfortunate.
Description:
All children entering the LBJ Children's Center will be provided the opportunity to learn dependability, perseverance, and responsibility. Teaching residents how to care for themselves while having to be away from their family instills these values. Children are given certain chores within the center that will help them learn skills that will assist them in maintaining their own living environment in the future, but more importantly make them feel as they are contributing to the family unit and encourage our children to make a difference in their lives and the community as well. Children will have spiritual foundation from which they can draw and grow all their life.
LBJ Children's Center offers a safe environment for both physically and emotionally abused children Some of the services that we will provide to these children that are placed at our facility, in addition to being a support system, include:
-Rebuilding children's lives
-Parenting classes
-Psychological Evaluations
-Medical/Dental Check-Ups
-Individual/Family Therapy for short term crisis intervention
-Assessment Services which will include recommendations concerning appropriate placements and levels of service
-Opportunities for children to visit with family members
-Effective social, academic and behavioral skills
-Spiritual foundation
-Structured recreation activities
-Case management services to their families and homeless.
-LBJ provides training classes for foster parents.
History:
LBJ Children's Center has been keeping children at heart throughout San Antonio and surrounding areas in providing a safe place for abused, neglected, homeless, and abandoned children. We started caring for foster children four years ago and have enjoyed dedicating our time and attention to them. We chose to build an emergency shelter to expand our services and assist more children who may be in crisis situations.
