Christian Assistance Ministry is a cooperative ministry that assists low-income and homeless persons in crisis with food, clothes, financial assistance and referrals.
Description:
Volunteers typically work a three to four-hour shift a week Monday - Friday during regular business hours. The volunteer coordinator will provide a tour and an orientation which will take about one and a half hours. Each volunteer will receive a Volunteer Handbook and training for positions as a phone receptionist, desk receptionist, interviewer, food pantry worker, clothing department worker, administrative clerk, floor host and Bible study leader.
History:
CAM was founded in 1977 by nine downtown churches to meet a growing need in San Antonio. It is supported primarily by its members churches of various denominations.
