Become a part of our international community of volunteers by participating in our International Volunteer Program in Mexico. We are recruiting volunteers for the period of June 15, 2008 to July 30, 2008.
The Auris Project helps targeted communities access key information, build tools that make best use of the information, and gain the experience needed to affect lasting change. Auris combines information access with community activity, providing an environment that fosters leadership, creativity and voice.
This is a great opportunity to learn a new exciting culture, language, and area, earn credit for school, meet and serve a great community, as well as gain a unique life changing experience.
Our program is located in the municipal of Catorce in the state of San Luis Potosi. Catorce is one of the most interesting, historically important, and underserved municipalities in Mexico. It is located in Central Mexico, and known by many as the place of the mystical mountaintop town of Real de Catorce. It is also the home of the Last Door of Wiricuita, the centuries-old sacred route of the Huichol Indians. Its 11,500 residents make their living mostly through farming, services, and goat herding.
Ideal for development professionals, activists, scholars, families and students, the program has proven to be an effective way for our constituents to share customs, culture, and challenges of our community with interested visitors. Volunteers should be enthusiastic, creative, flexible and knowledge seeking. This opportunity is sponsored by: The Auris Project, Inc.
