Make a difference in ADA…By becoming a volunteer! More than 18.2 million Americans with diabetes need your help by volunteering your time and skill. The ADA fulfills its mission through event fund-raising, which directly benefits our research foundation and educational programs. Volunteers help raise awareness by assisting event coordinators to plan and develop public awareness at our events. Opportunities include: ADA Office Support Volunteers: Assistance with mailings, event preparation, errands, and other administrative support are needed. Health Fairs: Volunteers attend the health fair by setting up the ADA materials on the table, distributing brochures and materials, answering any questions and most important making a difference by meeting and educating people from the health fair. Special Events: We currently have several different events in which we rely on many volunteers from staffing a planning committee or assisting on the day of the event. Volunteering for a special event offers many opportunities depending on your interest or availability. Qualifications: Must have good people skills, great attitude and excellent telephone etiquette, knowledge of computer and some typing skills helpful. All volunteers will be trained prior to attending and may also receive community service credit hours. If you are interested in joining ADA and making a difference in people lives, please contact Araceli Mendoza at 829-1765 (Ext: 6128) or by e-mail me at AMendoza@diabetes.org for more information.
