It is the mission of the Spokane County Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP) to provide select legal services to low-income residents of Spokane County who may otherwise be denied adequate representation or access to the civil justice system, and to encourage local attorneys to fulfill their duty to provide pro bono services
Description:
The Volunteer Lawyers Program provides assistance to low income people in many different areas of law. The areas are Family Law, Consumer/Bankruptcy Law, Housing Issues, Wills, Probate, Estate Planning, Non Profit Organization, Real Estate Issues, Social Security and Public Benefit Issues, Employment Matters, Driver/Professional License Revocations. In addition, we assist children who are at risk with filing Child in need of Service Petitions. We are good to our volunteers and our building is a fun and safe place to volunteer.
History:
The Volunteer Lawyers Program was established in 1985 and has a wonderful track record of assisting those in need. We currently assist over 1300 per year in legal matters. The staff has been with the program for a total of over 20 years.
