Clothing bank Assistant

Last updated on March 21, 2008

Clothing bank assistants are women who sort and hang clothing donations received from the community, are able to give positive critical feedback to other women about fit, color or appropriate style, and help them see what works well. If you volunteer at Our Sister's Closet, you come into contact with a wide wonderful variety of women. You can create an warm atmosphere where someone, while looking for a change, gets the cheerful push to think better of themselves by what they see in the mirror after you have helped them.

Friendly accurate phone and people skills are important qualities. You must be able to make our clients feel at ease, give them a sense of optimism about the next difficult phase of looking for work. A flexible cheerful attitude is a plus. We train interested people to put together outfits for customers, and give them the friendly push they need to try what could make them feel great. An understanding of what is "in" fashion, and what is practical for work is important to bring to the job. You should be able to stand for three or more hours, answer the phone and make appointments accurately, and keep Our Sister's Closet clean and organized. The ability to multi-task is a plus, but not required.
