HfH-Spokane is an ecumenical nonprofit Christian ministry bringing the community together to build decent, affordable homes for all God’s people in need.
Description:
HfH-Spokane creates a partnership between local families, volunteers and businesses to build affordable decent housing with low income families. Habitat is "a hand up, not a hand out." Each family must fully repay a 20-year, interest free mortgage and contribute 500 hours of "sweat equity" toward Habitat homes and projects. HfH-Spokane will partner with all community members including other affordable housing providers, ethnic and minority communities and low-income families to raise the standards of housing. HfH-Spokane will provide hope, stability and dignity for families in partnership while building our community through quality homeownership.
History:
Since 1987, HfH-Spokane has built 180 homes for low-income families in the area. June 1-16 of 2007 we completed our Annual "Blitz Build," providing homes for three more families in need of affordable housing. Our construction goal for 2007/2008 is to build homes for 22 families in Spokane.
