Hope Alliance is dedicated to empowering victims of domestic violence and sexual assault through support and advocacy, while promoting community awareness, compassion, and responsibility for creating a safer community.
Description:
Physical, sexual, emotional, and psychological abuse of one human being by another is unacceptable. Hope Alliance believes that all abuse diminishes or prohibits the full expression of life and growth that is every person's right. The purpose of the services of this agency is to help create positive change in the lives of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Hope Alliance offers a variety of services, including crisis intervention, emergency shelter, hospital accompaniment, counseling, support groups, a 24-hour hotline, legal advocacy, court accompaniment, law enforcement accompaniment, transitional housing, professional training, school-based services, community education, and a thrift store.
History:
Hope Alliance (previously the Williamson County Crisis Center) was founded and has been providing services to male and female, adult and child survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault since 1984. A crisis shelter was purchased in 1990 and currently houses 35 women and children who have been made homeless due to domestic violence and/or sexual assault. In 2001-2002, the Williamson County Crisis Center opened its thrift store and expanded its outreach programs. In addition to the main office in Round Rock, outreach offices are now located in Cedar Park, Georgetown, and Taylor. September 2006 the Williamson County Crisis Center changed its name to Hope Alliance in an effort to better reflect its mission, purpose and many community partnerships.
