The DSAA is a 501c3 NonProfit dedicated to providing support and education to families in Atlanta who have a child born with Down syndrome. We strive to promote positive awareness about Down syndrome and encourage a better understanding of individuals with Down syndrome.
Description:
The DSAA provides educational workshops, a bi-annual state conference, social gatherings and support groups for parents to network and children to have peer support and interaction. We also provide a newsletter, website and resource information including New Parent Packet to any family who has a baby born with Down syndrome. We use volunteers at each of our annual fundraisers, including our Spring Golf Tournament and the Buddy Walk which is in October.
History:
The DSAA began in 1979 by a group of Atlanta parents as a grass roots effort. We incorporated into a Non Profit Organization in 1985 and have grown as one of Atlanta's leading disability organizations serving over 700 families in the Metro Atlanta area.
