Our Mission Is To Build Peace By Creating Unity Between Hosts and Guests Worldwide. Our Goals:
- Honor the spirit of: the land, sea & sky, culture, community, and the individual, by honoring biodiversity, diverse peoples, sacred sites, indigenous peoples' wisdom, and all spiritual beliefs;
- Create mechanisms for the traveler, community members, tourism businesses, guides, support staff, and government leaders to actively participate in the building of inter-ethnic harmony, democracy, and a culture of peace within the tourism community and wider society;
- Equip participants with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and confidence to walk in peace, resolve conflicts peacefully, and to create peaceful environments within themselves, their families, businesses, communities, and nations-at-large;
- Supply funding for peace programs to be implemented in local schools through a Tourism For Peace Donation Fund, similar to existing Conservation Taxes charged to international travelers at country exit points;
- Evaluate the effectiveness of Tourism For Peace programs in communities, and in national tourism development plans, and share this knowledge with other actors in the fields of tourism development and peacebuilding.
- Flood the world with Travelers & Hosts of Peace by building The Peace Path in one's mind and in each community, and linking these Peace Paths together to create an unified world at peace.
- Honor and explore: our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual connections to the Creator; and our roles in bringing about The Most Great Peace.
Description:
We facilitate fun and thoughtful Workshops on peace concepts, teaching you how to love nature, love people, and love yourself. We lead Peace Eco-Tours to places around the globe and right here in the USA. We have active Service Projects that let people work side by side, getting to know each other. We also create Peace Paths between both local and global communities, and perform ceremonies to honor these sacred places of peace. We do private and group consultations with individuals, schools, and businesses on how to create peace in your life.
History:
Tourism For Peace was founded in February 2003, after Dr. Lash completed an Education For Peace course in Switzerland. It became a L.L.C. in 2006. Peace is a big concept, so we find ourselves working with diverse peoples and organizations involved in eco-tourism, child education, community development, arts & music, and sacred writings & concepts. As of 2007, we have completed peace projects, for both youth and adults, in Atlanta, Belize, and Costa Rica. We are currently working on creating Atlanta Peace Trails (APT), planting Peace Poles and creating a trail brochure for visitors and community members.
