The mission of the National Conference on Volunteering and Service is to expand and enhance the volunteering and service movement and to: • Build and strengthen the volunteer management capacity of attendees by delivering high quality educational workshops, tools, and resources and by offering intentional knowledge sharing and networking opportunities. • Encourage and energize attendees to lead in their communities through inspirational national leaders and speakers that support volunteering and service. • Reinforce the importance of our work to the nation and to communities through increased public attention and awareness about volunteering and service.
Description:
The National Conference on Volunteering and Service is convened annually by the Points of Light & Hands on Network, in partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service. The conference is the largest convening of volunteering and service leaders in the United States and internationally. In 2008 we expect over 4,000 national, state and community leaders representing nonprofit organizations, Points of Light & Hands On Affiliates, businesses, AmeriCorps, VISTA, state service commissions, communities of faith, international groups, educational institutions, federal government agencies, civic organizations and other groups that use volunteers or national service participants to achieve their mission.
