Operation P.E.A.C.E. is dedicated to addressing the social, political, and economic issues which have crippled the Bedford Pine Community by identifying needs, creating opportunities and empowering residents to solicit resources, thus promoting self-sufficiency, restoring hope and realizing possibilities.

Description:
On Wednesday November 23, 2005, Operation P.E.A.C.E. Youth Center and Magic Johnson/HP Inventor computer center along with close to 40 residential apartments burned to the ground leaving nearly 60 people homeless.

Therefore we are currently only running our youth Year-Round Academic program which consists of an afterschool program and summer program.

Once we are in our new building we will once again offer adult programs which include GED, job training, job placement,Computer classes and our senior citizen program which offers recreational and health oriented activities.

History:
Operation P.E.A.C.E. was founded in 1995, after 25 concerned concerned college students residing in the low-income neighborhood of the Village of Bedford Pine met to discuss how to eradicate problems children faced in the community. Twenty men and five women worked in an old unused laundry room in a basement provided by Wingate Management Company until the meeting space was converted into the two rooms that now serve as the office/activity space for the After-School program and the Summer Academy. What started off as a program for children in the community has blossomed into a program that serves all members of the Village of Bedford Pine, Old Fourth Ward, and surrounding Metro Atlanta Area.
