VistaCare Hospice/Atlanta is looking for angels - the eartly kind! You can add your gentle touch and warm heart to the care we offer terminally ill patients on our service. If you have extra love to share and a minimum of 4 hours per month that you can contribute, VistaCare would like have you join our team as a volunteer.
Volunteers visit patients with life-limiting illness in their homes or the facilities in which they reside to give companionship and emotional support. Volunteers can also provide relief for family members who need a break from caring for the patient.
Other volunteer opportunities include offering administrative assistance in our offices, making blankets, pillows, cards and other items that make patients more comfortable, and entertaining patients by singing, dancing or playing musical instruments in nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
No special skills are required to volunteer at VistaCare. But you do need a kind heart, an open mind, a non-judgmental attitude and a willingness to spend time with people of diverse cultures and with different belief systems.
No special skills are required, but volunteers must attend a training class and must submit to a background check, drug screening, driving record check and annual tuberculosis skin test. Visits to patients must be made on a regular basis - once per week or once every two weeks - and written reports must be given following each patient visit.
