The African-American Cultural Center is a not for profit multipurpose arts/education organization dedicated to promoting, sponsoring and developing an appreciation of and allegiance to African American heritage and to enhancing social behavior among African American your through multidisciplinery training in the arts and education.

Description:
The African-American Cultural Center services youth ages K-12 in the following programs:
Reading/Math
After-School Homework Assistance
Life Skills Classes
African History Classes
Theatre (Acting/Technical)
African Dance and Drum Classes
Creative Arts Classes
Jumpin' Jambalaya Summer Program
We are the home of the Paul Robeson Theatre and we produce four professional shows annually.
We also house the African-American Cultural Center's Dance and Drum Performing Companies (Children/Adult)
The Performance Companies perform throughout WNY in schools, colleges, universities, prisons, organizations, churches and in festivals. They also provide workshops in African Dance and Drum.
We are also the coordinators of the Pine Grill Jazz Reunion a free Jazz concert that is held in MLK Park the first 2 Sundays in August each year.

History:
The African-American Cultural Center was founded in 1958 by Malcom Erni-a young evangelist with Caribbean roots and devout faith in the virtue of his African ancestery who dreamed of a cultural and spiritual sanctuary for young people. It began with Theatre and Dance Programming for the young people and over the years has added new components to meet the needs of Buffalo's at-risk youth. We serve at-risk youth and their families, primarily single heads of households and who have low to middle income levels. We are now serving third and fourth generations. We will turn 50 years in 2008 a remarkable accomplishment considering the highs and lows in funding over the years.
