Through guiding lives and giving hope, we seek to help all persons recover from addiction to alcohol and substances, so that they may establish useful and successful lives.
Description:
Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services (ADDS) is a non-profit organization licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).
ADDS operates a continuum of services for adults and chemically dependent adolescents through its ten licensed programs, including a crisis center, Inpatient Rehabilitation Program, separate community residences for men and women, supportive living homes, the Renaissance Campus for youths ages 12-21, and outpatient facility for individuals and their families. ADDS also operates outpatient satellite sites at Goodwill, Hopevale, Inc. and Gateway-Longview, Inc.
ADDS provides specialized services for adolescents, women, Hispanics and members of the criminal justice population. Clients participate in individual, group, and family counseling sessions. They also receive vocational, educational, life skills training, recreational therapy, relapse prevention, and peer support activities. All program services are supported by professional agreements with hospitals, mental health, and psychiatric service providers.
History:
Established in 1977, ADDS (previously Alcoholism Services of Erie County, Inc.) has been a pioneer in the development and delivery of addiction services in Western New York. Opening as a special request by Erie County and then County Executive Ned Regan, the first licensed “sobering- up” station in Erie County, has lead the way for providers by continuously developing and implementing new treatment opportunities, including the significant other program, women’s community residence, and specialized program for Hispanics.
Since 1977, ADDS has partnered with providers, schools, media outlets, and community organizations to provide clients with the best treatment services. Through the Renaissance Campus, ADDS developed the first public inpatient rehabilitation facility and community residences in WNY to treat chemically dependent adolescents. ADDS was also instrumental in establishing the Kids Escaping Drugs Campaign and the Kids Escaping Drugs Telethon.
