The Friends of Tifft mission is to promote and enhance environmental and historical education programs, to support the staaff with volunteer assistance and to provide the necessary funding.

Description:
Tifft is a 264 acre reclaimed brownfield established as a nature preserve in 1972. We serve the schools and public as an environmental education center. Tifft is designated as an Important Birding Area by the National Audubon Society. There are ponds, a lake, 75 acres of cattail march and woodlands all connected by trails and boardwalks.

History:
In 2005, due to a cut in public funding, the Museum found it necessary to close Tifft Nature Preserve to the general public. The Friends of Tifft Nature Preserve, Inc. was formed to raise public awareness and funds to reopen Tifft.
