Description:
Hopevale, Inc. is a multi-dimensional youth and family treatment agency with a long history of providing effective services to a diverse clientele. It operates a residential treatment center for youth, ages 11-17, who have experienced difficulty in their homes, community or school and may have been the victims of emotional, physical and sexual abuse and neglect. The residential center campus is located on 55+ acres in Hamburg and includes 6 operational units, outdoor recreation facilities, the Father Bagley Activity Center and the Hopevale Union Free School. Hopevale operates a 12-bed non-secure detention program for females on campus and a Home-to-Home Foster Care program in Tonawanda.

History:
In 1855, a group of four sisters of Our Lady of Charity arrived in Buffalo from France and soon began caring for troubled and orphaned young women in WNY. The Sisters began Our Lady of Charity Refuge located on Best Street. For more than 100 years, the Sisters provided care and education for young women who were placed at the refuge by Family Court or the Department of Social Services. In addition to shelter, the Sisters provided education, counseling, spiritual guidance, job employment and life skills.

In 2005, Hopevale completed a century and a half of service to the children and families of our community. While many programs and services have changed (e.g., we started taking boys in 2005), Hopevale's mission is still the same - "to rebuild young lives..."
