Computers For Children enhances the learning opportunities for schoolchildren by increasing their access to current computers and information technology.
Description:
Computers For Children is a not-for-profit organization that relies on volunteers and interns to help us accomplish our mission of providing current computers to schools. We take in donated computer equipment from businesses as well as individuals, we refurbish the systems to meet Pentium 4 level standards with the help of volunteers and interns under the guidance of our IT Director and IT Assistant. Once systems are complete, we in turn donate the completed systems to K-12 schools. We have approximately 35 volunteers/interns who participate refurbishing computers or working with administration. We have 2 major fund raisers throughout the year. Our golf tournament is held in June at a WNY location. We have a gala in the winter with live entertainment. Both events have auctions which feature new technology. Money raised from both of these events supports our summer youth program, our afterschool program, equipment or parts needed to refurbish/upgrade computers and office needs. Volunteers are a big part of our organization. Each volunteer enables us to get one step closer to our mission of providing computers to schools.
