Impact Artists' Gallery is a not for profit fine art organization founded to provide a venue primarily for women artists to grow, develop and exhibit their work. Impact offers internships. Our activities include 12 month long art exhibits, during which we have events related to the theme of the shows. These events include panel discussions, art workshops, and art classes and art lectures, weekly painting studio days, poetry readings, dance and drama performances, and music recitals.
Description:
Impact Artists' Gallery is unique to Western New York in two significant ways: Impact is the only women's fine art society, and it is the only gallery that annually offers two juried national shows, as well as an exhibition for women artists, ages 12-24. Impact was established in 1993 in order to provide a venue primarily for women artists in which to teach, demonstrate, create and exhibit their work, which traditionally, is under-represented. Impact's mission also is to foster emerging women artists by providing an affordable professional space for them in which to exhibit their work, helping them to achieve professional development. Impact's fine art exhibitions provide the public with free opportunities to view original art in a wide variety of media, such as drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, wood, stone, clay, metal, fiber, handmade paper and books, installations, video, and more. Additionally, Impact hosts concurrent events in collaboration with community agents and agencies. Impact extends its support for the creative spirit with inspiration from poetry and other literary readings, and music, dance and drama performances by local and imported artists, which further enrich the Buffalo area as a cultural center. Through its public exhibitions, visual and performance art programs, and art-related tours, Impact continues to serve the Tri-Main Center neighborhood, as well as the city of Buffalo, the county of Erie, Western New York and Southern Ontario.
