Habitat for Humanity Buffalo establishes partnerships among God's people to give a helping hand to families who otherwise would be unable to achieve their dream of ownership of a simple decent home in a safe environment.

Description:
Habitat for Humanity/Buffalo, a non-profit christian housing organization, seeks to provides simple decent housing to low income families in Buffalo. Volunteers are the backbone of our organization and we could not help as many families as we do without them.

The construction site work days are Tuesday through Thursday from 9am to 3pm. We also schedule groups of people to work on Saturday, 9am to 3pm. Each project site has a supervisor to direct the activities and assist people as required. The various activities include gutting the interior of a rehab house, replacing windows, carpentry work to frame rooms, installing electric wiring, installing plumbing, insulating the walls and ceilings, hang wallboard and finish the joints, painting, vinyl siding on the exterior.

The ReStore is a retail outlet that sells new and gently used donated goods to benefit Habitat for Humanity/Buffalo. You can help receive, price, and stock donations, assist customers on the sales floor, operate the register, do merchandising, and possibly assist with pickups. The ReStore hours are Wednesday throughSaturday 9 to 4pm and Sunday 12 to 4pm.

History:
Habitat Buffalo has been working in the City of Buffalo and Lackawanna and has completed 181 projects since we started in 1985. About one third of the projects are new builds. We have worked in most areas of Buffalo; East Side, upper and lower West Side, Riverside-Blackrock, South Buffalo, plus the first ward of Lackawanna. We are currently doing 12 - 15 projects per year. We work all year round.
