The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The Society offers a wide variety of programs and services including patient financial aid, public and professional education, advocacy, family support groups,in addition to disease research. The Society is a nonprofit organization that relies on the generosity of individual and corporate contributions to advance its mission.

History:
The Society was founded in 1949 by the deVilliers family who had lost their only son to leukemia and recognized the need for a separate organization dedicated to finding cures for the disease through research. In 2000, the Society changed its name from Leukemia Society of America to emphasize its commitment to fighting all forms of blood-related cancers.
