The mission of the High Hurdles Therapeutic Riding Program is to provide a unique opportunity for growth, development and other positive changes for individuals with special needs, and to foster the community's awareness, appreciation, participation and donor involvement through the horse/human bond.

Description:
HIGH HURDLES OF SASi provides therapeutic riding for children, beginning at three years old, and adults who are challenged by physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities residing throughout Erie, Wyoming and Cattaraugus Counties. HIGH HURDLES is also a Special Olympics Equestrian Training Center. We are the only program in Erie County to offer this opportunity. As a member of the Western New York Chapter of the New York State Horse Council, HIGH HURDLES continues to promote safe horsemanship and increased accessibility for horseback riding by the disables.

History:
Founded in 1998, HIGH HURDLES OF SASi served a handful of individuals. We expanded our services on a part-time basis until December of 2006 when we moved into our new barn and arena in Sardinia, New York. Now we are a full-time program able to expand our scope of services, and plan to serve more than 300 riders in 2008.
